Literacy Outreach Centre students recognized in Completion Ceremony

YELLOWKNIFE, NT – Aurora College’s Yellowknife Literacy Outreach Centre (LOC) celebrated 29 learners during its 2024 Completion Ceremony at the NWT Legislative Assembly in June. Each year, a special event is held to recognize learners who have dedicated themselves to improving their literacy and life skills through our diverse range of programs.

The Literacy Outreach Centre has been operating at Aurora College, Yellowknife in partnership with Inclusion NWT since 1997 and provides free, accessible programming to individuals of all ages and abilities. Programming includes Adult Literacy classes, Computer Basics, Office Skills, Tutoring Services, and the Baker Centre Book Club.

Quote:

“The 2024 Completion Ceremony highlights the incredible progress our learners have made this year. Recognizing the 29 individuals is a testament to their hard work and demonstrates how the program provides a transformative impact on their lives. We could not achieve this success without the ongoing support of our partners, funders and volunteers. Together, we generate a supportive community through literacy, which helps empower learners to fully participate in the North.”
